Daily Schedules
Students are used to being in school from 8 to 3, but most home school students actually only spend about 3 hours per day studying.
A couple of tricks may ease this transition.
1. Give students a choice.
Rather than say, first you do math and then reading, give them a menu of options and set a time for each choice.
2. Make it visual.
Post the schedule on the fridge so they can see it. Slide it into a page protector and let them check off what they have completed with an expo marker.
3. Provide incentives.
Let them earn computer/cell phone/gaming time by completing academic tasks.
